It was usually the white one with the red skull on it but I can't remember what type it was apart from that it was a Fender.

In the Gn'R videos he is mostly plays fender jazzbass specials(the white one) but in the Sweet Child O Mine video he uses a Kramer something.
This is just what he used in the videos it may be different then what he used for recording.
For the prices maybe $300-$600. but the sound depends on other things like FX, amp, and player

It was a Fender Jazz Special ( Japanese ) but it's not enough, because you must consider also his Head, his cabinet... and Over all, his way of playing bass, and the way he hit the strings,  ecc ecc.... on AFD he also used a yamaha chorus ( i think! ) , but you can have a very similar effect with a flanger...

i play bass guitar in a GNR tribute band, and i'm trying to get a good Duff sound Since 5 years.... well, it's really very hard... good luck!!!!

Yeah, running A Jazz Special thru a Gallien-Krueger will get you as close as you can get. I've played a Jazz Special once, and I can't recall exactly how I had the pickups blended or what position the toggle switch was in, but I beleive it was a bright tone. Possible neck pickup. Don't forget the .73mm Tortex's either. He also plays ridiculously close to the neck. Since his bas is slung so dam low, he ends up hitting the strings damn close to the neck. Good luck

As far as I know they don't make them any more.  I've seen 2 on ebay over the years and a friend of mine saw one in a second hand shop once but I have no idea how you could actually go about finding one.
