Duff McKagan: If It's Rainy? Watch a Movie.By Duff McKagan, Monday, Jun. 21 2010 @ 10:27AMThe rain and weather seems to be the topic of conversation everywhere I've been this past week. Heck, I even went east of the mountains last week and tried to chase the sun. No luck - it was rainy and cold in Wenatchee too - very odd for this time of year.
Okay... we have discovered that Comcast is offering some kick-ass older films in their pay-per-view section (Comcast is our local cable choice in the Northwest). Check out these movie soundtracks:
Soundtrack to Butch Cassidy And the Sundance Kid (Burt Bacharach): I saw this movie at a drive-in when I was probably 6 or 7 years old, and that's when I first encountered the genius of Burt Bacharach. We watched this flick last weekend - such a classic.
Sountrack to Shaft (Isaac Hayes): This record became the soundtrack of my life around 1988 for some reason. This was the same year as NWA's 'Straight Outta Compton' and Ice T's 'Power.' I secretly wanted to be O.G., and often pretended that I was!
Soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever (Bee Gees): It is rare these days for a singular group or artist to do a whole thematic sountrack. Is this because we are more interested in downloading singles these days, and not so much the idea of a 'journey'? Either way, THE BEE GEES RULE!
