Hootin' It Up With Petty, Mother Love Bone, and Mark Pickerel By Duff McKagan, Monday, Mar. 1 2010 I'm sitting here backstage with Mark Pickerel at the Hootenanny for Haiti benefit, Sunday night at the Showbox at the Market. This gig includes many great cover songs that I either haven't heard for a long time, or never before. Check it out:
"Even The Losers," Tom Petty: This song had a profound effect on Mark as a kid and he somehow seemed to feel Petty's pain even back then. For me, it is just simply a great song, timeless and passionate.
"Love Hurts," the Graham Parsons version: Star Anna and Mark have been looking for an excuse to sing a song together for a few years. Tonight was a truly great experience for me as a musician, to see others excel at what they do. If you haven't checked out Mark or Star, well it's never too late.
"Crown of Thorns," Mother Love Bone: Sean Smith and Stone played this song tonight...KILLER! Sean Smith is fucking a God-like singer and should be worshiped!
