Just got the Rolling Stone magazine yesterday with them on the cover...unbelievable.  A few years ago I read it still sold 5,000 copies a week.

Well in 1999, apparently the low point of GNR's popularity it sold over 433,000 copies and the same year the RIAA announced that it was the 16th best selling album of all time. It also reappears on the lower end of the Bill Board 200 every so often.

Its amazing to think a 20 year old album can still sell this well, but then it is also an amazing album.

I'd love to know what the total sales are up to now. It was certified diamond in 1999, meaning it had sold 15 million copies in America. I've heard rumors that its up to 20 million now and fuck knows what worldwide but reliable official figures are hard to find.
